This was unexpected
1/0 14.09.2007 16:32 English
This happened just a few minutes ago.
I'm moving on to a new job, and I'm really excited about it. In the end, I realize that I'd learned all I could here, and it's time for me to write about things I truly enjoy. That said, I've met some wonderful people here, and we've helped each other get through some pretty stressful situations.
I remember talking to a few of my co-workers about my desire to start a collection of handmade pottery, since I really respect and admire Old World/old time craftsmanship. I figured that if I collected mugs, bowls, plates and so on, I'd have artwork that was also functional. I didn't think anyone here would have remembered this.
I guess they did.

My friends love me. I think.

I really do need money for all of that. And I really do need braces, apparently. I'm the only 25 (soon to be 26) year old I know of who seems to be aging in reverse. Braces? Come on!
My name's not even Betty...
Anyway, I may be setting up a tip jar on Sound and Vision (check my links on the right), so if any of you feel like donating a bit of cash, it would be well appreciated. Between that and the eventually Selling of the Crap, I may just make enough to buy a stick of gum when I go visit my boyfriend later this year.

Ugh - a bit truer than I'd like to admit. I need to get over my pack rat tendencies.
And before anyone asks, I do donate things to charity. However, I could use some spare cash thanks to some things that are coming up, so I'm looking around at consignment shops in my area. eBay isn't doing it for me, and even if I only get a few bucks, that's still better than nothing. And it also means that I'll finally, finally be able to get rid of all the crap I don't need.

Love is knowing/We can be

Hey, they can't all be funny.
I suppose these will pop up every once in a while - little tangents that are a bit more serious than the rest. I blog about it all the time, but tonight, I just wanted to do something a little different. Just a little inspiration to keep me going.
We'll be back to the regularly scheduled weirdness tomorrow.

Our greatest fears have been r ealized

Ok, so maybe this was mean. This isn't how it actually went, by the way.
But seriously, have you ever thought about it? There's no way anyone can truly love retail that much.

Not that there's anything wron g with that

I have a lot of respect for people who work retail. And a lot of suspicion about people who really, really love working in it...

I've already had to deal with the, "So you have met in person, right?" question. I'm just waiting for this to be the next conversation I have with someone when I reveal my boyfriend's nationality.
This sort of thing is sort of an inside joke between the two of us.

Four full (very full) years of higher education
1/0 23.04.2007 17:39 English
I may as well own up and say that this comic is, in fact, semi-autobiographical. Which means that yes, I was fat in college. Fortunately, no one knows that.
Wait. Oh, hell.
This one is based loosely on a random encounter I had with one of the popular girls from my high school class. She was working at a "lotion hut" when I saw her. She talked to me like I was an actual person, which was downright bizarre. When we ended up working at the same place during a summer in college, she at best avoided me, and at worst got nasty and treated me like crap.
Maybe I didn't waddle fast enough for her liking.

Foiled by the lure of fruit, i ce, and yogurt

Funny thing is, our town just got a Smoothie King. And like a sucker, I'm going to have to check it out. I loves me some drinkable fruit.
Anyway, welcome to Gutter Stargazer. My name is Katie, and I'll be your waitress tonight and all other subsequent nights. I'm friends with the creator of Tea and Bitchery (teaandbitchery.stripgenerator.com) and girlfriend of the creator of Ninja and Dave (ninjaanddave.stripgenerator.com). That should give you an idea of what kind of comic this will be, though I'm not sure it'll be as good as either.
I'm gonna do my best to update this thing in a timely manner, though that'll also depend on my schedule. I was fretting about my ability to bring the funny, but then I remembered that old adage about how you should create art (in my case, writing) for youself and not other people. Regardless, I hope you like what you see. And leave me feedback - I go nuts for that sort of thing.
